Well, in the roller coaster that is life in the NICU, we had a bit of a setback today. Dr. Chen did not like what she saw on Allie's chest x-ray this morning (it appears "patchy") and the culture taken from her showed some bacteria. They believe she may be harboring some bacteria in her lungs, so back on the 2 other antibiotics we go. For right now her blood gases are good and she is still acting as feisty as ever, which is a good sign. Hopefully this has been caught early and she will respond quickly to the treatment. They will take another x-ray in the morning to see how she is responding. Other than that, however, her vent settings are actually down a little bit and she is tolerating her feedings so well she is up to 3.5cc per hour now. Also, she has gained 10 more grams to a whopping 800 grams now. :)

It's great to follow Allison's progress. She certainly is a fighter and we all here at CH and Immunizations enjoy reading the blogs and keeping updated on her progress. Happy Easter and you are in our prayers. Donna Lundgren
